Bumbershoot co-commissioned (with the Noorderzon Festival in the Netherlands) this performance of edgy Burlesque featuring some of New York's wildest. Julie Atlas Muz (performance arts superstar), Dirty Martini (reigning queen of striptease and classic burlesque), Tigger! (the first ever Mr. Exotic World) and the trapeze-swinging Wau Wau Sisters make this a true must-see performance. London's Mat Fraser (Thalidomide!! A Musical!) hosts.
Julie Atlas Muz
Julie Atlas Muz's dark, twisted, come-hither performances have secured her place in the underworld of nightlife. Muz has been awarded Artist- in-Residency status from Chashama, Joyce Soho, Mondo Conne, Dixon Place, Whitney Biennial and Balencia Bienal as well as the title of Miss Exotic World in 2006.
Tigger!
Tigger!, the original Mr. Exotic World, has been New York's premier Boylesque Stripper since 1997. "The blasphemous stripper they tried to ban in San Francisco" has won 3 Golden Pastie Awards including "Most Unpredictable Performer." Tigger! has also toured with Michael Moore in a pink Sodomobile for his series "The Awful Truth."
Mat Fraser
Mat Fraser is a rock musician, actor and performance artist. A drummer with numerous bands in his native England, Fraser has written and starred in the solo plays "Seal Boy" and "Thalidomide!! A Musical," was a member of the performance art groups The DHSS and Europe's renowned Graeae Theatre Company. Fraser has hosted London's Erotic Awards and his eponymous "Sex Variety Cabaret."
Dirty Martini
Miss Dirty Martini is one of the most recognized names in new burlesque. This International Burlesque Sensation has delighted audiences with her Fan Dance, which won her the Sally Rand Award at the Exotic World Burlesque Museum in California as well as the title of Miss Exotic World 2004.
Wau Wau Sisters
Wearing high heels and clutching cocktails, The Wau Wau Sisters, the act The New York Times calls "irreverent, sacrilegious, foul-mouthed and uninhibited," straddle the hilarious gap between performance art and burlesque. Their show, which includes trapeze and music, makes them one of the genre's most versatile acts.
